Introducing The Plastic Glitter Amnesty

Since I started Luminosity Glitter in 2019, I've been on a mission to educate as many people as I can about the eco alternatives available to sparkle lovers instead of traditional plastic glitter.

I've lost count of the amount of times people have said things to me such as: "I've still got lots of plastic glitter at home that I want to use up before switching to Bioglitter" or "I'll just throw my plastic glitter away".

But wearing plastic glitter at a festival for example, means fallout and the glitter ending up in a natural environment and then once you've had enough sparkling for one day it gets either wiped off and thrown in the bin or washed down the drain. Meaning the glitter is working its way into our water systems and harming our marine life.

This is one of the reasons we've started the plastic glitter amnesty. Sparkle lovers are now able to send us their naughty plastic glitter and we will encapsulate it using a bio-based resin and turn it into something fabulous and reusable; stopping loose plastic glitter from entering our natural environments and water systems.

We've worked hard to find a more sustainable alternative to the usual resin that crafters and jewellery makers use and chose a bio-based resin which has been made with bio-materials such as plant waste versus petroleum-based raw materials.

In return for sending us your naughty glitter you will receive a 15% voucher to purchase from us to replenish your stock.
If you would like to send us some sparkle please get in touch by sending us an email to:

Please note we are only able to accept loose glitter, not glitter on cards, wrapping paper or gels.
